A double pair has two different digits appearing twice each, like 3388 or 271721. It is the digit equivalent of two pair in poker.

Two independent pairs are harder to arrange than one, but easier than any triple, which places this pattern between them in rarity. The count above shows exactly where it lands.

The two pairs are unordered and need not be adjacent: 5665, 5566 and 6556 all qualify. What matters is the multiset of digits, not their arrangement — arrangement is what the symmetry and sequence groups measure.

Double pairs often stack with other traits. A number like 5665 is both a double pair and a palindrome, and because those live in different groups, both contribute to the score.
